12 Smiles of Christmas 2015

01/12/2015

It's December, so it's time for the12 Smiles of Christmas. Every year we pick 12 of the best cases that completed treatment over the past 12 months. Before and after photos are showcased on our Facebook and Twitter pages in the weeks before Christmas. We've picked a mixture of cases treated with different types of braces to represent the wide range of treatments that we do.

All our featured patients have given their permission for us to use their photographs for marketing purposes. This year we've decied not to show any full face photographs, even where we have permission, as we recognise the increasing importance of online privacy.

Like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter (or use the hashtag #12Smiles) to be sure to see them all.

Educating and being educated

23/11/2015

On Saturday Megan Hatfield gave a lecture to Dental Circle delegates in Wakefield. This meeting was aimed at recently qualified dentists hoping to continue their edication. She talked about orthodontic assessment, it's importance and why good xrays and photographs are needed. Whilst basic orthodontics is taught to undergraduates there is not much opportunity to treat patients before qualifying, and many companies are now encouraging general dentists to treat their own patients. A good understanding of how to assess a patient is the starting point for any treatment. The talk was well received and complemented lectures given by Preet Bhogal on short term orthodontics and Hassan Maghaireh on implant treatment.

The previous weekend Megan attended the Incognito Expert Forum in Nice, France. This event for invited delegates concentrated on clinical tips for experienced users of Incognito lingual braces. 150 delegates came from across Europe and further afield, with only 20 attending from the UK. As part of the event Megan shared a clinical tip about temporarily filling spaces during treatment.

The judging panel includes many of the top dentists in their fields. The awards ceremony is held in London in March.

12 Smiles of Christmas 2014

01/12/2014

Every year we showcase some of the best smiles we have created 12 Smiles of Christmas. Each day, Monday-Thursday, for three weeks from 1st December, we will post the before and after photographs on our Twitter and Facebook pages. Picking just 12 of the patients we have made smile this year is very difficult, we have tried to pick a selection to show different types of problem and different braces.

All of the featured patients have given permission for their photos to be used for marketing purposes, we never use full names, and will always respect a patient's wishes if they prefer photographs to remain private.
