LINGUAL BRACES
What is a Lingual Brace?
Lingual braces are a type of fixed brace but lingual braces are attached to the back of the teeth rather than the front, which means they are hidden. Megan Hatfield took the Postgraduate Certificate in Lingual Orthodontics at Warwick University to learn more about this complex type of treatment. She now uses Incognito lingual braces which are highly customised for each individual. Incognito is therefore more comfortable than other types of lingual brace and gives excellent treatment results.
Because lingual braces are not visible they are ideal for adults or older teenagers who are concerned about the appearance of traditional fixed braces. They can be used for top and bottom teeth or for just one jaw in combination with traditional fixed ceramic braces.
When having lingual braces as part of your orthodontic treatment plan, be prepared to take a few weeks to get used to eating and speaking, but most patients find they are used to the braces after a few weeks. Celebrities like Myleene Klass wear lingual braces as you can continue to smile with confidence throughout your treatment. Its even rumoured that Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, wore lingual braces before her wedding.
Rebecca said about her lingual braces "Absolutely fantastic, I would recommend the treatment to anyone! Couldn't have been better!" To watch Mike talking about his lingual braces click here.
